Ben Blankenship has been writing and performing his songs for the last twelve years. He was raised in Enid, Oklahoma and has lived and played in Oklahoma City, San Francisco and New York City. A six month tour of Western Europe with a guitar and suitcase preceded three years of playing clubs in the New York area. He recently relocated to Nashville. Ben has two CDs available: "Black Lipstick," which consists of mostly band cuts, and "Solitaire," a more starkly produced collection of guitar and vocal performances. |

"I'm just trying to write and sing songs from my own experiences and at the
same time have fun with language and melody. No big secrets, I suppose. Once
I get started, with a title or a first line, I try to flesh out the idea
with some unexpected twists and turns. I don't like to be in total control
of the meaning of my songs, or rather, the meanings change over time and
according to who's listening. I like to give a lot of room to the listener.
Concrete images that come together to not quite make logical sense are more
fun than a perfectly tight storyline. Playing my own songs has taken me
places, literally and imaginatively, that I never would have gone doing
anything else."
